Organizer's Message

Yukio Okawara

The Japan Food Machinery Manufacturers’ Association Chairperson Yukio Okawara

To this day, the Japan Food Machinery Manufacturers' Association has supported people's rich and healthy diets through the stable supply of safe and hygienic food.
The 49th FOOMA JAPAN 2026 will be held for four days from June 2 (Tue.) to June 5 (Fri.), 2026, with "The Shift is On." as its theme at Tokyo Big Sight. Please note that due to large-scale renovation work at the venue, this year's exhibition will be held using the West Hall and parts of the East Hall.
Currently, the food industry faces numerous challenges driven by major changes in the market environment, such as population decline and shifting consumer preferences, while maintaining the provision of safe and secure food as its foundation. Under these circumstances, the food machinery industry is increasingly required to accurately grasp changes in the food environment and contribute to the development of the food industry through technological innovation.
FOOMA JAPAN has become an important opportunity to support the development of the food industry, serving as a place where the latest technologies, products, and services related to food processing are brought together to provide comprehensive solutions.
At this exhibition, while upholding the fundamental principle of "food safety and security," we will introduce innovative products and services and actively promote initiatives aimed at realizing a sustainable society in line with the philosophy of the SDGs. Furthermore, we will showcase the appeal and competitiveness of Japan's food machinery technology to the world by increasing the number of overseas visitors and creating international business opportunities.
We hope that FOOMA JAPAN 2026 will serve as a venue that contributes to the further development of the food machinery industry and the food industry.
We sincerely look forward to your visit.

Minoru Onoe

FOOMA JAPAN 2026 Exhibition Committee Chairperson Minoru Onoe

FOOMA JAPAN is one of the world's largest comprehensive food processing exhibitions, covering all areas of food processing and bringing together the latest technologies and knowledge. In 2026, a record-high 1,025 companies will exhibit, and the event will be held as a place where visitors can experience the "present" and "future" of food processing.
This year's theme is "The Shift is On."
The food-related industry is currently at a major turning point. Automation and labor savings, environmental considerations, food tech, and shifting values toward food. As these multiple shifts progress simultaneously, the food industry is transitioning from "responding to change" to a stage of "proactively choosing and creating new standards." Right now, the entire industry is beginning to shift to a new phase.
FOOMA JAPAN 2026 aims to be a place where visitors can experience these changes through specific technologies and solutions.
As a symbolic initiative, we have set up the "Innovation Hub" in the West Hall Atrium. Here, startup companies, domestic and international research institutes, and companies supporting next-generation food processing—such as those in AI, robotics, and digital technology—will gather. In particular, a record number of 36 companies will exhibit in the Startup Zone, introducing a variety of proposals based on new ideas and technologies, along with pitch presentations.
We hope to provide visitors with new insights and encounters by serving as a place where knowledge and technology connecting research and development to commercialization intersect.
We sincerely look forward to welcoming many of you to FOOMA JAPAN 2026, where the "next standard" of food processing will begin to move forward.
