Founded in 2022, the FOOMA Award aims to stimulate food machinery technological research and development and disseminate that technology. Its goal is to spread awareness of excellent machinery and equipment, to promote productivity, resolve labor shortages and contribute to development of new food products, thereby playing a part in improving food culture and food safety. The 6th FOOMA Award 2027 will be held for FOOMA JAPAN 2027 exhibitors.

Overview

Purpose of the Event

The Japan Food Machinery Manufacturers' Association (hereinafter, FOOMA) founded the FOOMA Award in 2022 to honor and recognize outstanding food machinery and equipment.
The food processing and machinery industry plays an important role, not only in Japan, but also in diverse food cultures around the world. Through this awards system, we aim to improve food industry productivity and contribute to new food development with solutions for various issues such as manpower reduction, by raising awareness of outstanding food machinery and equipment in the wider food industry, in order to stimulate research and development into food machinery and spread technology, thereby playing a part in advancing food culture and food safety.

Review

Judging will be done by the FOOMA Award judging committee composed of third-party experts.
Moreover, committee members shall have a duty of confidentiality preventing disclosure of information obtained from judging activities. We ask for your understanding as applications cannot be returned regardless of the result.

Announcement of commendation and prize-winning products

Products nominated for the Prize of Director-General, Manufacturing Industries Bureau, METI, and the Prize of Director-General for New Business and Food Industry, Minister's Secretariat, MAFF (hereinafter "nominated products") will be announced at the press conference for FOOMA JAPAN 2027, scheduled for early April. In addition, the products are scheduled to be introduced on FOOMA JAPAN 2027's official Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms.
The award ceremony will be held during the FOOMA JAPAN 2027 exhibition period. The prize-winning products will be announced to the press and posted on the official FOOMA JAPAN 2027 website.
In addition, products that win the Prize of Director-General, Manufacturing Industries Bureau, METI, the Prize of Director-General for New Business and Food Industry, Minister's Secretariat, MAFF, and the "Excellence Prize" will be exhibited on panels in a product introduction corner set up during the exhibition period.

*Right to use Award logo mark: Award-winning products recognized by FOOMA may use the logo mark on the product itself, catalogs, websites, and other media for five years.

Application guidelines

Eligibility

Exhibitors at FOOMA JAPAN 2027*1 that manufacture the submitted product*2 and display it throughout the exhibition period are eligible to apply.

*1: Exhibitors must complete the application process to participate in FOOMA JAPAN 2027. Applying for this award does not guarantee exhibition participation.
*2: For products that cannot be physically exhibited at the venue (e.g., plant equipment, production lines, etc.), explanatory displays such as panels, videos, or models are acceptable.
*3: Products that were not nominated for the Grand Prize in previous years may be re-applied for in future sessions with improved versions.

Number of entry product

One product per exhibitor

Eligible products

Limited to products that have generally been on the market for 10 years or less.

  • Machinery, equipment, and production lines for manufacturing food products
  • Related machinery incorporated into food production lines such as packaging machines and automatic transport systems
  • Instrumentation and ancillary equipment in the food manufacturing process
  • Various systems to support food production such as communication and management systems, etc.

For products that may not clearly fit into the categories mentioned above, please consult with the secretariat beforehand.

  • (Required) User manual for the product
  • (Required) Product brochure, flyer, or product description
  • (Required) Appearance drawings or layout diagrams
  • (Optional) Supplementary product information:
    Materials that demonstrate the product’s characteristics (e.g., patent publications, conference papers, magazine articles, etc.). If necessary to convey product characteristics, explanatory materials or videos may also be submitted (videos should be up to 15 minutes long and in MP4 format, the style is flexible).

If the PDF files are too large to send by email, please save them to a USB drive or similar device and send them to the address for “Document submission and inquiries”.
