Role of Flaxseed Powder in Reduction of Blood Glucose and Cholesterol in Type-2 Diabetic Patients

本研究の主旨

The effect of flaxseed powder on blood glucose and cholesterol particularly high density lipoproteins (HDL), low density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL), Triglycerides (TG) and Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) in type 2 diabetes were evaluated on males and females. Flaxseed powder was incorporated in wheat flour chapattis (Flat bread). A significant decrease in weight and BMI in EG (Experimental group) was reported in both sexes while no change in CG (Control Group) was reported in males and in females. A significant reduction in BP (Blood pressure) was reported in EG. Fasting blood sugar (FBS) in the experimental group in males decreased from 16916mg/dl to 15714mg/dl while in females FBS decreased from1548.2mg/dl to 1367mg/dl.
TC (total cholesterol) reduced from 226.34.8mg/dl to 201.143.45mg/dl in males and in females 206.876.52mg/dl to 186.505.46 mg/dl. Result showed decrease in LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) in males from 137.114.28mg/dl to 116.023.59mg/dl in females from 92.406.71mg/dl to 82.506.16mg/dl. TG (Triglycerides) were reduced in males from 212.113.08mg/dl to 180.8411.02mg/dl and in females from 191.4712.05mg/dl to 161.379.99mg/dl and VLDL (Very Low density Lipoprotein Cholesterol) reduced in males from 42.632.81mg/dl to 36.362.22mg/dl and in females from 46.532.43mg/dl to 40.402.24mg/dl.
There was a non significant increase seen in the HDL level in females from 42.701.92mg/dl to 42.932.06mg/dl while in the male subjects there is a significant increase seen from 45.551.01mg/dl to 49.40.68mg/dl. Flaxseed powder offer such opportunity which can help bring down cholesterol and glucose .
