本研究の要旨

Extraction of chitin from shrimp waste, lycopene from tomato waste, saponins from legumes, polyphenols from grape waste, and podophyllotoxin (used in cancer treatment) from mayapple were investigated using various techniques such as solvent extraction, ultrafiltration, supercritical extraction, radio frequency (RF), ultrasound and pulsed electric field. Innovative energy efficient and safe extraction technologies for neutraceutical and pharmaceutical components were developed. For chitin extraction from shrimp waste, optimum combinations of organic acids were obtained to replace inorganic acids. Polyphenol separation and concentration by membrane separation is even more efficient than organic solvent extraction. The predicted trans-lycopene yield from tomato skin was at maxima when the temperature, pressure and modifier concentrations were 62ºC, 44.6 MPa and 14%, respectively.
